JOB TITLE: Human Pathogen Lab Technician

EMPLOYER: OmniLytics, Inc.

LOCATION: Salt Lake City, Utah

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lab Technician sought by early stage company developing infectious disease remediation products to become part of their dynamic growing biotech team. This is an exciting opportunity that will allow the candidate to grow with the team.

  • Duties include culturing and characterizing a wide variety of human pathogenic organisms and media preparation.

  • Conduct research or assist in research, including the collection of information and samples.

  • Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and field equipment.

  • Study growth, structure, development, and general characteristics of bacteria and other microorganisms to understand their relationship to human, plant, and animal health.

  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations based upon research outcomes.

  • Responsible for running PCR and DNA extractions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors of Science (preferably microbiology) OR related research lab experience. A minimum of two to four years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed.

  • Ability to work with human pathogens, follow SOPs, create quality control standards, process incoming samples and make timely decisions on product delivery.

  • Experience with animal or plant pathogens a plus.

  • Candidates must be able to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems.

  • Experience with quality control or quality assurance a plus.

  • Must be very hands-on as this is a bench-level position.

  • Must be highly motivated with a positive attitude and have the ability to multi-task effectively and adapt quickly to rapidly developing opportunities. .

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, including implications of new information.

  • Ability to work under stressful, demanding conditions and perform repetitive work.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal, report writing, and oral communication skills.

  • Must possess good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team and multi-project environment.
